“Urban Gardening” is an exhibition/installation by the designer brothers and bag producers Daniel und Markus Freitag (CH), who have been concerned with the public space for years. Urban gardening originally employed guerrilla tactics to direct our consciousness towards the dreadful plight of our shared urban structures. Now We Take The Public Space … You May be involved …
Opening with Daniel and Markus Freitag:
Thu 1.10., 19:00
Ondisplay until 31.12.2009

Daniel and Markus Freitag pause their bag-making a bit and will present their latest take on guerilla gardening with an elaborate installation in and around the Walking-Chair Gallery.
Seeds are a beautiful thing. Throw them, flow them, grow them. They’ll bear fruit, eat CO2, and split asphalt. That’s why FREDDIE has been touring the world, spreading his seed on rooftops and in the gutters.
Witness FREDDIE’s re-contextualization of plants from the open field to the raw city. A symbolic action to reclaim the streets.
The good-looking Freitag Brüder will be present at the opening. The opening is part of this year’s Vienna Design Week.
Ausklang as ever in the notorious Cafe Urania in the Radetzkystrasse with DJ h.c. Handsome Hank after 11pm. Herr Hubert is ready.
